Coach walkthrough

You run the roster and the card. Fighters don’t sign themselves up. Register your gym. Then choose a community flyer or an in-app event.

1. Register a gym

Who: Unattached coaches only. If you already joined or registered a gym, you will not see Register Gym — you’re already affiliated. Join a gym instead from the Team tab if you want to belong to someone else’s gym.

What it does: Puts the gym on the map and in search. You become head coach and gym admin. Fighters already on your unattached My Team move to this gym. After this, you can create a Show or Tournament (not only a Sparring Event).

  1. 01Sign up as Coach (you start Unattached).
  2. 02Open ProfileEdit. Under gym, it says Unattached. Tap Register Gym. Alternate: HomeGyms tab → Register Gym (same screen; only shows if you’re an unattached coach).
  3. 03Screen title: Register Gym. Header: Gym Information — “Register your gym to start managing your team.”
  4. 04Fill Gym Name * (must be unique; “A gym with this name already exists” if taken. At least 2 characters.), Address * (autocomplete; you can paste a full line like Houston TX 77087 and it fills State and Zip), Apt / Suite / Unit (optional), City *, State *, Zip, Phone Number * (10 digits), Email (Optional).
  5. 05Optional: Confirm Location — opens Maps so you can check the pin. The app also saves coordinates when you submit.
  6. 06Tap Register Gym. Wait for “Registering gym...”
  7. 07Success: “Gym registered successfully!” You return to the app. Team becomes My Gym. Your role is head coach.

You only register a gym once. To change the address later, edit it in My Gym (listed gym admin). To join an existing gym instead of creating one: TeamJoin Team — do not register a second gym with the same name.

After you register, you can put on a Show or Tournament. Unattached coaches can still post community flyers and create a Sparring Event without a gym.

If the address cannot be verified, My Gym shows a banner: the gym stays off the Gyms & events map until you update the street address in My Gym.

2. In-app event vs community flyer

These are two different posts. The app asks you to pick when you tap Post. Sheet title: What do you want to post? Sheet subtitle: Choose how this event should appear on Boxing Network.

Community flyer

Subtitle in app: Local events board

Share a poster for a nearby show or tournament. Add bout sheets and links, and let people comment or follow for alerts. There is no in-app registration or ticketing — use this to promote an event that lives outside Boxing Network.

A community flyer is a poster on the local board. People can see it, comment, follow it, and open bout-sheet PDFs. Gyms cannot enter fighters in Boxing Network from a flyer. Use it when the card is being run somewhere else (USA Boxing, another app, paper, Facebook) and you just need the room to know about it.

  • Who can post: Coaches and officials. You do not need a registered gym.
  • Who cannot post: Fighters and parents (they can read; fighters 14+ and parents can comment).

In-app event

Subtitle in app: Show, tournament, or sparring

Create a Boxing Network event with fighter registration, rosters, event admin, and live streaming. It shows up under In-app events so gyms can enter and manage the card here.

An in-app event is a card you run inside Boxing Network. Coaches register fighters. You build the bout sheet, auto-match, release brackets, add staff, list Cash App / Venmo / Zelle / PayPal, and Go live. Fighters and parents see the card in My Events.

  • Sparring Event — coaches or officials. Gym not required.
  • Show — coach with a registered gym.
  • Tournament — coach with a registered gym.

Do not confuse “Event flyer (optional)” with a community flyer

When you create an in-app event, you can attach Event flyer (optional) — “Used as the cover image in listings and event details.” That is the poster on YOUR Boxing Network event. It is not a community flyer. A community flyer does not become an in-app event unless you later link them.

Use a community flyer when

  • You are promoting a show that is not being registered in Boxing Network.
  • You only have a poster and maybe a bout-sheet PDF.
  • You want comments and “follow for alerts,” not in-app entries.

Use an in-app event when

  • You want coaches to enter fighters in the app.
  • You will run a bout sheet, brackets, weigh-in, or a live stream here.
  • You want the card in HomeIn-app, on the map as an in-app event, and in fighters’/parents’ My Events.

You can do both later: post a flyer to spread the word, then create the in-app event and link the flyer so visitors open the official event (“Community flyer linked. Visitors will open this official event.”). Do not tell people they must do both.

Start matchmaking is a third thing: a private pairing session you can Promote to event. It is not a community flyer.

3. How to post a community flyer

Who: Coaches and officials.

  1. 01HomeEvents.
  2. 02Tap Post (next to See all on the local/community row).
  3. 03If you can also create in-app events, a sheet appears: What do you want to post?
  4. 04Tap Community flyerLocal events board.
  5. 05Screen title: Post community flyer.
  6. 06Fill Event title *, Starts *, optional multi-day end date, Venue / address (optional), City * and State * (required before you can add files), Add flyer image (the poster), Add bout sheet (PDF or image; on multi-day, pick which day the sheet is for).
  7. 07Top right: Post.
  8. 08Success: “Posted.” It shows on Home, the local events board, and the map as a community flyer.

People can comment and follow for alerts. There is no Register button for fighters. Put outside registration links in the comments if you have them.

To edit: open the flyer → Edit flyer (coaches and officials). You cannot edit a flyer after it is linked/merged to an official in-app event.

4. How to create an in-app event

Who

  • Sparring Event: coach or official (gym not required).
  • Show or Tournament: coach with a registered gym. If you don’t have a gym, the type dropdown only shows Sparring Event, with: “Shows and tournaments require a gym linked to your coach account.”

From Home

  1. 01HomeEventsPost.
  2. 02What do you want to post?In-app eventShow, tournament, or sparring.

From My Events

  1. 01ProfileMy Events.
  2. 02Tap Create New Event.

Start matchmaking on that screen is the private pairing tool, not this.

Screen title: Create Event.

  1. 01Event TypeSelect Event Type: Sparring Event; Show (if you have a gym); Tournament (if you have a gym; must be multi-day, end date after start).
  2. 02Event Name.
  3. 03Venue: address autocomplete, city, state, zip, optional unit. Confirm the map pin when the address is complete.
  4. 04Dates, doors-open time, optional registration window and fees, description, concessions.
  5. 05Eligibility if you need it (state, sex, age, novice/open, invite-only).
  6. 06Shows: optional toggle for outside coach challenges.
  7. 07Optional: How people pay youCash App, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal. Boxing Network does not collect that money.
  8. 08Optional: Event flyer (optional) — pick an image, then Position your event flyer. This is the cover on listings and event details. It is not a community flyer.
  9. 09Tap Submit (the button says Next until a type is selected).

Success: “Sparring/Show/Tournament event created successfully!” If the cover image fails: “event created. Flyer upload failed — add it from the event admin screen.”

You land in event admin (bout sheet, registered fighters, matchmaking, brackets, Go live). Coaches register fighters from the roster. Fighters do not self-register.

Home filter In-app is where these events appear, separate from community flyers.

5. Join a gym or stay unattached

New coaches start Unattached. Affiliation is later, not at signup.

Join a gym

TeamJoin Team → request. When an admin accepts, you join as a coach (not automatically head coach). Your fighters merge into that roster. Do not register a second gym with the same name.

Stay unattached

Run My Team, accept fighter requests, add guests, find sparring. You can post community flyers and create a Sparring Event. A Show or Tournament needs a registered gym.

Leave Team is blocked if you’re the only coach, or the only registered head coach — promote someone first.

6. Head coach vs gym admin

  • Head coach is a label. A gym can have more than one.
  • Gym admin runs roster, address, cover photo. The gym always keeps at least one.
  • Promoting another coach does not step you down unless you choose that. You can also pass admin.
  • Guest coaches marked head coach are name on the wall only.
  • My GymCoachesEditPromote. Or ProfileYour gym roles.

7. Build the roster

On My Gym (admin):

  1. 01Pending requests — Accept, reject, or message them first. Accepting a coach also brings their fighters.
  2. 02Add guest fighter — Name, sex, weight, DOB or age, fights. They appear on the public gym without an account.
  3. 03Per fighter: Show on gym preview & team view. Off = they stay off the public preview and out of sparring search.
  4. 04Send Fighters List — Pick fighters, send in-app or share outside. Weight, age, sex, fights, gym link.
  5. 05Find Sparring — Pick who you’re looking for, radius, weight window. Results are other gyms. Message the head coach. Fighters do not run this search.

Unattached My Team is the same idea for your fighters only.

8. Invite parents (three codes — pick the right one)

  • Link a parent to a fighter who has the app: Fighter profile, or the fighter generates it themselves. 14 days, one-time.
  • Link a parent to a guest athlete (no app): Guest row → invite parent. 14 days, one-time.
  • Put parents in gym chats without a child link: My GymInvite parent to team. 24 hours, reusable.

Parents paste the code under ProfileLink with invite code, or open the /pi/ link.

9. Run the card

  • Show — Register fighters (roster, guests, or manual) → Matchmaking tab (auto-match, approve pairs, challenges) → Bout Sheet (start/complete, rings, intermissions). Print/PDF/QR.
  • Tournament — Register → brackets build at 2+ in a division → edit/swap while you can → Release brackets (brackets only, or full competition + day-1 sheet). Multi-day: last day is for championships. Opening admin does not silently rebuild brackets.
  • Sparring admin — Registered fighters + schedule groups, weigh-in, PDF.
  • Add staff: collaborators from your gym. Officials can Request admin access. Fighters and parents added as helpers get a limited role: concessions, description, livestream, bout sheet — not matchmaking or the full roster.

You register fighters. They don’t. Eligibility: they need weight, DOB, and sex on the profile. Incomplete profiles fail.

10. Go live

  1. 01Event admin → Go live → camera and mic → name the angle (e.g. Ring 1) → Start broadcast.
  2. 02A second phone is a second angle. Stop broadcast when you’re done.
  3. 03Viewers need to be signed in. HDMI capture is not in the app — second phone or OBS.

11. Chats

  • Chats: Everyone · My team · Parents · DMs (same gym, your roster, linked parents, other coaches in the coach network).

Officials

USA Boxing officials can sign up as Official, post community flyers, run matchmaking, and Request admin access on nearby events. If you’re also a coach, pick one role at signup — you can add the other later in Profile.

Short FAQ

What’s the difference between an in-app event and a flyer?

A flyer promotes an event that lives outside the app (poster, comments, bout-sheet PDFs). An in-app event is a card you run in Boxing Network — registration, bout sheet, brackets, live.

Do I need a gym to post?

Community flyer: no. Sparring in-app event: no. Show or tournament: yes — ProfileEditRegister Gym first, or join a gym.

Can I put a poster on an in-app event?

Yes. Create EventEvent flyer (optional). That is the cover image, not a community flyer.

Can fighters register from a community flyer?

No. Only an in-app event has in-app registration, and the coach does it.

I already registered my gym and still don’t see Show/Tournament.

Confirm Profile is no longer Unattached and Team says My Gym. Then Create EventEvent Type.

I grew up in the Houston boxing community, training and coaching at my family’s gym. I’ve watched fighters and coaches drown in DMs and group chats. I’ve had sparring sessions fall through and lost evenings of work. I’ve seen shows go to event day with a bout sheet that was only half full.

Boxing Network is the tool I wished existed when I was looking for sparring, scouting gyms in a new city when we've traveled for nationals, or when we were trying to matchmake for an event. I graduated Hamilton College, NY, with a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics and combined my passion for boxing with my technical expertise to create Boxing Network.

The story

Built in the gym.

Boxing Network started after one too many missed fights. A camp ends, a fighter is ready, and the bout falls through because the right opponent never saw the call. Or a gym puts on a show and the room is half-empty because the flyer lived in three group chats and a facebook group where everyone is doing the exact same thing.

We're fighters and coaches who got tired of running the business of boxing on tools built for everything else. Sparring shouldn't take a week of DMs. A bout sheet shouldn't live only on a spreadsheet. Finding a gym in a new city shouldn't require knowing someone who knows someone.

So we built the network we wanted to fight in. One app. Every gym, every fighter, every event, every corner — pulled together, still local, still ours.

What we stand for

Four corners. Four rules.

01

Built in the gym

Every feature started with a real fight night, a real bout sheet, a real gym we train at. Nothing is theoretical.

02

Fighters first

Every decision begins with the boxer. If it doesn't make their next fight easier, it doesn't ship.

03

Local before global

We grow block by block, gym by gym. The scene is local — the tools should be too.

04

No middlemen

Direct connections between fighters, coaches, gyms, and organizers. No gatekeepers, no agents in between.
